Ticket to Ride: Online

Computers and Internet Posted on 2008-11-20 23:41:06

As I have written before in one of those boardgame posts I like the Ticket to Ride games a lot. Yesterday I decided to try Ticket to ride Online which appeared to make my days of illness a little lighter. The onlinegame works exactly as the boardgame so if you want to try the game out before you buy it you can go there to see how it is. You can play both the original America map and the European map. Since I have the boardgame I had got a code which gave me player status for six months. Player status means that I can start up new games and I am also in the ranking list. But it is just as fun as a guest player so I recommend you to go there and try the game! If you like it you are welcome home to me for some irl games aswell 🙂Blog ImageThis is how the Ticket to ride Online USA map looks like.

Soundcard problems…

Computers and Internet Posted on 2008-10-23 17:38:21

For you who didn’t know, I bought a new computer at Komplett a few months ago. Last week I realized that my microphone didn’t work with the new computer so I mailed them with links to two screen shots of my settings and explained that there is no sound in but there is sound out. The first answer I got was “Probably you haven’t set up your soundcard to be the main entity for your sound”. They hadn’t even looked at my screenshots at all.

Maria 1 – 0 Komplett.

I replied and told them to look at my screenshots and got a new answer that i should call them between 8am and 5pm (when I’m usually not at home). Today I called them and the guy I got to talk to really sucked. He refused to believe something was wrong with the soundcard and said so 10 times together with “but I don’t know what’s wrong”. Finally he came up with the brilliant idea to enable the sound on the motherboard and test if the microhpone worked that way. I said goodbye to him, enabled the sound on the motherboard, installed the drivers and the microphone worked. I called them back and got to talk to a girl, I explained everything to her and she said “It can’t be anything else than a broken soundcard, I will send you a new one”.

Maria 2 – 0 Komplett.

I just have to tell you

Computers and Internet Posted on 2008-10-01 18:07:25

I ordered an Internet subscription from ComHem last Wednesday evening. Monday this week I got the modem and it worked directly. I think Telia have something to Learn from ComHem. I also got a phone number and a digital-box with card to the TV. It’s not very often you have those things sorted before you have the furnitures in the apartment. So I want to raise my flag for ComHem’s deliverytime.

Objections?

I think I will by this monitor. What do you think about that?

The Internet

Computers and Internet Posted on 2008-09-09 16:43:06

\o/ J has got the Internet at home. He’d ordered a wireless modem from Tre and it seems to work fine except from some lag spikes. I’m starting to think about how I’ll solve it with Internet in my apartment. I have come up with four different possibilities.
From what I have read the house seems to be a so called Comhem-house.
So, the choices are:
1. Order a ComHem subscription and share the Internet between my computers.
2. Order a ComHem subscription and a wireless router for a wireless network.
3. Order a wireless modem from Tre or Telia and share between the computers.
4. Order both a ComHem subscription and a wireless modem.

All the solutions have positive and negative sides, such as economy, comfort, flexibility and so on. Choice number 4 would ofcourse be the ultimate solution in a world where I had an unlimited amount of money. But I am a student now so my economy is limited. If you have any proposals or ideas, please write a comment.
